Ground to Grow

Hi, I’m Meaghan. I’m a change catalyst, activist, and the founder and CEO of One Girl, a non-profit social justice organization that advocates for the empowerment and advancement of women and girls. A mother of two and stepmother to four, my kids are my world, and truly drive all that I do.

While I’ve had many experiences throughout my life - as a former model, yoga and meditation instructor, Miss New York USA, and Mrs. New York America - it's been my social justice work that has inspired me most.

I know firsthand that life can be deeply unfair.  As an advocate, I’ve witnessed unspeakable atrocities; in my personal life, I’ve dealt with unspeakable loss, including the loss of my son, Lincoln.

I know that bad things don’t always have a reason or a lesson. In many ways, these experiences leave us trapped in darkness and buried under the weight of our situations.  It’s hard to see a way out.

Here’s what I’ve learned

It is actually this darkness that acts as fertile soil for our growth. Instead of being buried, we are like seeds, being planted.

We are often underground until we are ready to bloom.

And even when we feel most alone, most in the darkness,  there is a world of people around us willing to hold us, support us and remind us of
the light.

So, know this. If you find yourself struggling through relationship issues, family issues, dealing with grief, grappling with PTSD, or all of the ways life can happen to us --- there’s always, always, always a way to grow from the mud.

In my work,  I often speak to the importance of being still and getting grounded. Knowing yourself leads to a deeper understanding of the world to better help people.

Getting grounded and learning to be still is a path out of the darkness and an opportunity to find peace, even in our unhealed world.

In the stillness, there are lessons as to what is growing for you next --- are you ready to listen?

Be still. Ground yourself. Watch yourself grow.

Grow a Movement

One Girl, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit social justice organization that advocates for the empowerment and advancement of women and girls. We are a powerful group of women ready to ignite our purpose, meet our people, get into action, and make change in the world.

Our motivation in all we do is unconditional love, kindness, and compassion. My methodology of grounding and stillness is built into the fabric of One Girl, as I believe that it is only through that stillness and self-inquiry that we can act consciously in our advocacy.
